What the site does

The site estimates council tax bills for 2026/27 in England, Wales and Scotland from the Band D figures published by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, the Welsh Government and the Scottish Government, and applies the national rules on discounts, exemptions, the Disabled Band Reduction Scheme and premiums for second and empty homes. It has no connection with any council, the Valuation Office Agency, the Scottish assessors or Scottish Water.

An estimate, not a bill

The amounts shown are estimates based on the assumptions set out on the method page. Your council's demand notice is the only bill that counts: it reflects your exact parish or community council, local discounts and premiums, Council Tax Reduction and any change of circumstances. Nothing here is legal or financial advice.

Liability

Each figure is taken from the official table or rule cited with it, and the calculation engine is tested before each build. The publisher gives no guarantee that no error or later change remains and cannot be held liable for a payment, a budget, a purchase or a band challenge decided on the basis of this site alone. Errors can be reported through the contact page.

Intellectual property and reuse

Texts, graphics and code belong to the publisher. Council tax statistics and guidance from GOV.UK, gov.wales, gov.scot and legislation.gov.uk are public sector information reused under the Open Government Licence v3.0, with the source named on each page.

Personal data and cookies

What you type in the calculators stays in your browser. The site sets Google Analytics audience measurement cookies (_ga, _ga_0PZKMTYN10, 13 months at most), with no advertising; page stability is monitored with Microsoft Clarity, cookie-free.
